We're pretty straightforward about how we handle your info. Nothing fancy, just honest talk about what we collect and why we need it.

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading privacy policies. But here's the deal: when you book a stay with us up here in the mountains, we need some basic info to make your experience smooth and memorable.

We're talking about the usual stuff - your name, contact details, payment information, and maybe what kind of pillow you prefer. Nothing weird or invasive. We collect what's necessary to run a top-notch mountain resort and that's where it stops.

The info you share helps us customize your stay, remember your preferences for next time, and honestly, just keep things running without a hitch. We don't sell your data to random companies or spam your inbox with nonsense. That's not how we roll.

Here's what matters: Your information stays protected, we only use it for legitimate hotel operations, and you've got full rights to see what we have and request changes. Pretty straightforward, right?

Personal Identification

When you make a reservation, we'll need your name, email, phone number, and address. Basic stuff that any hotel would ask for. If you're booking adventure activities or spa treatments, we might need to know about dietary restrictions or health considerations - just to keep you safe out there.

Payment Details

Credit card info, billing address - the usual financial stuff. We use secure payment processors, so your card details aren't just sitting on our servers. It all goes through encrypted channels that meet industry standards.

Stay Preferences

This is the good stuff. What floor you prefer, whether you want a mountain view or forest view, dietary preferences for breakfast, spa preferences. All those little details that turn a good stay into an amazing one. We keep these on file so next time you visit, we've already got you sorted.

Website Usage

Like every website out there, we track some basic analytics. Which pages you visit, how long you hang around, what device you're using. It helps us figure out what's working and what needs improvement. Nothing too Big Brother about it.

Communication Records

If you email us, call, or chat with our team, we keep those records. Helps us provide better service and remember what we discussed. Pretty standard practice for any business that actually cares about customer service.

Alright, so here's what we actually do with your info:

  • Processing Reservations: Pretty obvious, but we use your details to book your room, confirm your stay, and handle payment. Can't run a hotel without that.
  • Personalizing Your Experience: Remember that mountain view preference? Or how you like extra towels? We use that info to make sure your room's set up just right before you arrive.
  • Communicating About Your Stay: Confirmation emails, check-in details, maybe a heads-up about weather conditions or trail closures. Just keeping you in the loop about stuff that matters.
  • Improving Our Services: We analyze feedback and usage patterns to figure out what's working. If everyone's raving about the wilderness spa but nobody's using the conference facilities, that tells us something.
  • Marketing & Special Offers: Occasionally we'll send info about seasonal packages or special events. But only if you're cool with it - there's always an unsubscribe button, no hard feelings.
  • Legal Compliance: Sometimes we're required by law to keep certain records. Tax stuff, safety regulations, that sort of thing. Not the fun part but it's necessary.

We're not in the business of being creepy with your data. Everything we do is directly tied to making your stay better or keeping the hotel running smoothly. That's it.

Yeah, we use cookies. Not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately - we're talking about the digital bits that help our website remember you and function properly.

Essential Cookies

These are the ones we absolutely need. They keep you logged in, remember what's in your booking cart, and make sure the site doesn't break. Can't really turn these off if you want the website to work.

Analytics Cookies

These help us understand how people use our site. Which pages get the most traffic, where folks drop off in the booking process, that kind of thing. It's all anonymous data - we're not tracking individual people around the internet like some kind of digital stalker.

Preference Cookies

These remember your choices, like language settings or whether you've already dismissed certain pop-ups. Makes the site more convenient for repeat visits.

Marketing Cookies

These are optional. They help us show you relevant ads if you've visited our site. You can totally disable these in your browser settings if you prefer. Won't hurt our feelings.

Most browsers let you control cookies through the settings. You can block them, delete them, or get notified when sites try to use them. Just keep in mind that blocking all cookies might make some parts of the website less functional.

Let's be clear: we're not selling your personal info to random companies. That's not our business model and frankly, it's kinda shady.

However, running a mountain resort means working with some trusted partners who need access to certain info to do their jobs:

  • Payment Processors: Companies like Stripe or similar that handle credit card transactions securely. They're certified and audited, so your payment info is in good hands.
  • Booking Platforms: If you book through a third-party site, they'll share your reservation details with us. That's just how it works.
  • Adventure Partners: When you book guided hikes or winter sports activities, our local guides need to know who's coming and any relevant safety info.
  • Email Service Providers: We use professional email platforms to send confirmations and updates. They're bound by strict privacy agreements.
  • Cloud Service Providers: Your data's stored on secure servers maintained by reputable companies. All encrypted and backed up regularly.

All these partners are contractually obligated to protect your information and only use it for the specific services they provide. We vet them carefully and wouldn't work with anyone sketchy.

Legal Requirements: In rare cases, we might have to share info if required by law, court order, or government investigation. We'd only share what's absolutely necessary and nothing more.

We take security seriously around here. Not just because we have to, but because it's the right thing to do. Your trust matters to us.

Technical Safeguards
  • SSL encryption on our website (that little lock icon in your browser)
  • Encrypted databases for storing sensitive information
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability testing
  • Firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Secure backup systems in case anything goes wrong
Physical & Administrative Security

Our staff is trained on data protection practices. Access to personal information is limited to employees who actually need it to do their jobs. We don't just leave sensitive data lying around for anyone to see.

Our servers are in secure data centers with 24/7 monitoring, restricted access, and backup power systems. The whole nine yards.

Being Realistic

Here's the honest truth though - no system is 100% hack-proof. We do everything we can to protect your info, but if you're ever concerned about a potential security issue, let us know immediately. We'll investigate and take action fast.

It's your data, so you've got rights. Here's what you can do:

Access Your Information

Want to see what info we have about you? Just ask. We'll send you a copy of your personal data. Might take a few days to compile everything, but we'll get it to you.

Correct Inaccuracies

If something's wrong - maybe we've got an old email address or your name's spelled incorrectly - let us know and we'll fix it. Simple as that.

Delete Your Data

Want us to erase your info? We can do that, with a few exceptions. We might need to keep certain records for legal or accounting purposes, but we'll delete what we can.

Opt Out of Marketing

Don't want promotional emails? No problem. Click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or tell us directly. We'll take you off the list, no questions asked.

Data Portability

Under Canadian privacy laws, you can request your data in a format that's easy to transfer to another service. We'll provide it in a standard format like CSV or JSON.

Lodge a Complaint

If you think we've mishandled your info, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. But honestly, talk to us first. We'd rather resolve any issues directly.

To exercise any of these rights, just email us at reservations@ignarioncrest.info or call (604) 555-8247. We'll need to verify your identity first - just to make sure we're not giving someone else access to your info.

We don't keep your data forever. That'd be weird and unnecessary. Here's our approach:

Active Guest Information

If you're a regular guest or have an upcoming reservation, we'll keep your info active. This includes your preferences, past stays, and contact details. Makes it easier for both of us when you book again.

Inactive Accounts

Haven't stayed with us in a while? After about 5 years of inactivity, we'll reach out to see if you want us to keep your info. If we don't hear back, we'll archive or delete most of your data.

Financial Records

Tax laws require us to keep financial records for 7 years. Sorry, that's not up to us - it's a legal thing. But we keep this stuff locked down tight.

Marketing Data

If you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we'll keep just enough info to make sure we don't accidentally email you again. That usually gets purged after a year or two.

When we delete data, we really delete it. We're talking secure deletion methods that make recovery practically impossible. It's not just sitting in a trash folder somewhere.

Our website isn't designed for kids under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you're booking a family stay, that's totally fine - but the reservation should be made by an adult.

If we discover that we've accidentally collected info from a child without parental consent, we'll delete it ASAP. Parents, if you think we have your child's information and shouldn't, please contact us immediately.

For families staying with us, we might collect basic info about children (like ages) to arrange appropriate activities or room setups, but that info comes from parents or guardians, not directly from kids.

We're located in Canada and follow Canadian privacy laws (specifically PIPEDA - the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act). But we welcome guests from all over the world.

EU & UK Visitors

If you're coming from the EU or UK, you've got additional rights under GDPR. Everything we've outlined above applies to you, plus you've got some extra protections. We're committed to respecting those rights even though we're not technically required to comply with GDPR.
